Closing the Gap: An Institute for Schwerin

Schwerin is one of the few state capitals in Germany without a public university. This structural gap in the region’s academic landscape was the primary motivation behind the founding of the Institute for Applied Mathematics (IAMSN). As an independent initiative, we see ourselves as a flexible response to the local need for academic depth and innovation.

We bridge the gap between abstract mathematics and real-world applications. Our work focuses on translating mathematical thinking into practical tools, models, and digital formats that can be applied in education, business, and society. In doing so, the Institute contributes to strengthening Schwerin as a center for knowledge and innovation.

Unsere Mission & Values

Practical Relevance

For us, mathematics is not an end in itself. We develop concepts and formats that make mathematical thinking applicable to real-world challenges in education, business, and the public sector.

Openness to Diverse Educational Pathways

We value diversity in perspectives and backgrounds. The Institute welcomes people from a wide range of educational backgrounds who share an interest in analytical thinking and digital tools.

Academic Rigor

We are committed to clear methodologies, transparent reasoning, and verifiable results. Our work is guided by academic standards and methodological rigor.

Regional Dedication

Firmly rooted in Schwerin, we aim to strengthen the region as a center of knowledge and contribute to constructive dialogue between academia, education, and local stakeholders.
